This year Rowan House are taking part in Operation Christmas Child, a fantastic initiative that sends shoeboxes of gifts to children all over the world.
Organised each year by the Samaritan’s Purse, a non-profit Christian organisation, the shoebox appeal gives joy to suffering children, where without them Christmas might not be so magical.
It’s surprising how much can be crammed into a shoebox that’ll make a difference – small toys, school supplies, hygiene items, or small items of clothing or jewellery. They’re the kind of items we might put into a Christmas stocking, but placed in a more robust container for the longer journey they’ll undertake. This guide shows what is – and is not – acceptable.
The boxes are coming in already and NB tomorrow (Tuesday 17th November 2015) is the deadline if you haven’t sent yours in already. Sam New and Laura Smith will then send them on their merry way!
