Rowan House‘s Jenna Wilson has fantastic news of last Monday’s (5th October 2015) charity bowling night…
“I organised a charity Bowling night along with Amigos Swindon (a blind and partially sighted bowling team) and Wiltshire Sight (a local charity that supports people living with sight loss) at Tenpin Swindon for colleagues, friends and family.
There were 24 filled lanes of teams ranging between 3-6 players making a total of 119 people all ready to take on the two game challenge all hoping to win prizes for:
- Top Team
- Top Male
- Top Female
- Top Junior (under 16)
Victorious on the night were:
- Top Male – Chris Taylor – 318 total points
- Top Female – Hayley – 210 total points
- Top Junior – Nathan Williams – 177 total points
- Winning team – Maggie’s Minions – 1530 total points
Russ Riggs, Amigos Swindon’s captain said:
“Losing your sight can mean a loss of confidence and people can withdraw and become isolated, part of what we do as Amigos is to offer some small part of preventing that.
To everyone who came along to the event on Monday, Wiltshire Sight and Swindon Amigos would like to say a huge thank you. It was great to see the support of family and friends. We hope the evening gave people the opportunity to understand what Wiltshire Sight and Amigos are trying to do locally and we are humbled and grateful for your support.
Looking forward to next year and would be great to see Smiths News back on the leader board…come on guys you need to practice!”
To finish off the night there was a great selection of raffles prizes up for grabs including: Samsung Tab4, One4all gift card, Weighbridge Brewhouse meal voucher and Wyvern theatre tickets
The total funds raised so far is nearly £2,000, with the amount still rising!
Thank you all so much!”
AND this year’s event also made the local paper!
