We also have an update from Frances Plant on the results of the Great Bertrams Bake Off…
“We had a fantastic response to the inaugural Great Bertrams Bake Off, with lots of departments throughout the business including Buying, Credit Control, Bibliographic, HR, Library Services, Dawson Sales/Business Support and Dawson Customer Services taking up the baking challenge issued by Marketing! Over 30 cakes, buns, muffins, savoury snacks and biscuits were bought in, with the best in each department being put forward to be judged by MD Justin Adams in two different categories: best decoration, and best tasting. There was also a category for best team effort.
“I was incredibly impressed by the amazing quality of all the cakes, and the evident work that had gone in not just on baking but decoration. It was almost impossible to judge, so I apologise to all those that didn’t get mentioned below. I will give £1 for every cake I tasted!”
The lucky winners were:
Laura Gray in Credit Control for her chocolate and vanilla stars sponge cake
Nicola Smith in Credit Control for her chocolate and roses sponge cake, and Amy French in Marketing for her Red Nose Victoria sponge cake
Deepthi Rajesh in Bibliographic for her chicken cutlets
Judith Baird in Business Support for her lemon and poppy-seed cupcakes, and Michelle Nichols in Dawson Customer Services for her plum crumble cake
Best Team Effort:
Bertrams Library Services
Bibliographic and Marketing
Once the judging had been completed, all the cakes were put on sale, much to the delight of everyone!
Thanks to everyone’s efforts, we raised an amazing £251.36 for Comic Relief!
Many thanks to everyone who took part, whether through baking or buying: hopefully this will be the first in an annual competition!”
