Robbie Runs the Marathon

Robbie FosterWe have our latest marathon runner! Rowan House‘s Robbie Foster tells us why he’s put on his training shoes for this daunting distance…

“As you may or may not be aware, I will be winning running this year’s Virgin Money London Marathon which is just 30 short days away.

I have no experience of running full Marathons, and the 26 miles is going to be a daunting prospect! Training is going well but I still have some way to go. To put the distance in perspective it is approximately half of the distance between Nottingham and Birmingham, and is definitely further than I have run before.

I will be running the Marathon in support of Whizz-Kidz which is a great charity that supports disabled children. They provide mobility equipment and specialist wheelchairs which can enable children to be more independent and enjoy some of the activities which we often take for granted.

The waiting list of children waiting for a specialist wheelchair on the NHS is currently approximately 70,000, which is why this charity is so important. The charity also provides support and life skills for disabled children which can help them to reach their full potential.

If anyone would like to sponsor me, here’s my JustGiving page, and I would be very grateful for any donations as they can make a really big difference to this special cause.”

Good luck Robbie and let us know how you get on!
