Our connection with Bath Rugby Foundation continues! Calling all of our male walkers based in the south-west: Fiona Gilbert – Marketing and Communications Manager – has news of their annual Bath Men’s Walk…
Back for a third year, the popular men only eight-mile walk takes place on Saturday 21st March 2015 and aims to raise much-needed funds for the charities Bath Rugby Foundation and Dorothy House Hospice Care.
The walkers will set out from Dorothy House, Winsley at 1pm for a walk along the Kennet and Avon canal to finish at the Recreation Ground – aka The Rec – the home of Bath Rugby. Their reward? A pie, a pint and the Six Nations clash between England and France on the big screen.
Groups of 12 to 20 walkers who book together will get the opportunity to watch the game in the comfort of their own private box at The Rec or – new for this year – groups of 10 will also have the option to book a table in The Pavilion enabling groups of friends to catch-up post walk whilst watching the Six Nations.
The aim for 2015 is to double the number of walkers this year to a whopping 700, so it would be great if Community Link-Up readers can help them out! Bath Men’s Walk is perfect for men and boys who fancy a not-too-strenuous walk along the canal, followed by a great pie and a pint (or two) and a game of rugby. With an ‘unofficial’ pit stop or two along the way, it’s a great way to get a bit of exercise, have lots of fun and enjoy watching a hard-fought international match with some of your mates.
Both charities rely on the support of the local community by participating in sponsored events to be able to continue their vital work.
- The Bath Men’s Walk is open to men and boys, aged 12 years or over on the day of the event. The entry fee is £22; in addition, all walkers will be expected to raise sponsorship money or make a personal donation in lieu of sponsorship (suggested minimum £50 / under 18s £25). Entry fee includes a T-Shirt.
