More Cake Please!

Selection of cakes to raise money for Macmillan

What a lot we got! Here’s the latest selection of cakes brought in for Macmillan’s Coffee Morning. This fine setting appeared at Bertrams as Eleanor Gotts reports…

“We had many cakes donated by members of staff (as you can see!) and a huge turn out during breaks and lunch. We have raised £169.70 so far for Macmillan and are still counting the final pennies!

I think the star of the show was Matthew Plane’s Cranberry Red Velvet cake (pictured top right) which went within minutes. We were also extremely grateful for the help from our volunteers Sharon Denby and Liz Bramble, who spent time manning the stall.”

Southampton‘s pictures show it wasn’t just about the cake on September 26th. There is also the opportunity for some shared time over a cuppa as well as helping to clear those plates of scrummy cakes! Organiser Lynda Patience roped in Alicia Alexander and Steve Shuker to act as servers on the day.

Lynda also held another Macmillan Coffee Morning the next day at home with family and friends. She explains why:

“Father passed away last year of Cancer, and the Macmillan Nurses were marvellous, they were godsend not only to my father, but to my mother and the family.”

Lynda’s efforts raised £150.

We have one more Macmillan Coffee Morning special to go! Tune in next week to find out more, plus the overall total raised this year!

Hi Kevin, yes we have your fabulous pictures thank you. Yours is the article for next week mentioned at the end of today’s post. We try not to clump too many reports in one go so you all get the spotlight you deserve 🙂

  2. Mark Cashmore, Chief Executive says:

Good to see so many locations taking part – I think we must have quite a large total to report next week judging by the posts thus far.
