Luke Adds More Sauce

Source to Sauce logoSince we featured From Source to Sauce last month, Luke Simons has been hard at work to make sure this will be an event to remember. He’s added dragon boat racing to the already ambitious mix of hiking, biking, paddling and final pub celebrations!

The dragon boat racing is set to add a flourish to the party he’s arranged as the event’s finale on July 13th, with everything else set to kick off tomorrow with the From Source to Sauce challenge itself.

Luke has this to say about Saturday’s proceedings:

“We will be filling 2 dragon boats. The plan is a 1 hour session on the river and will be a bit of fun, including some light training. Then there’s a couple of races between the 2 boats, nothing competitive but I assure you once you start paddling it will be!  Teams are to be confirmed but we are currently on 13 from Smiths (plus Lisa’s daughter for drumming) so if we can get a few more it can be a Smiths/Instore vs others (friends, family, other undesirables).

This is all possible with the fantastic support of Worcester Dragons – up to 20 people are giving their time to paddle the boats to the start point for us. 100% of the money raised is going to St Richards and Acorns Hospices.

There are still a few places for both dragon boating racing or the party (first-come-first served). Dragon boating starts at 4pm from the Camp Inn at Grimley to just past the main Worcester centre bridge. Then there’s a short walk over the bridge to the Old Rectifying house at 5pm where there will be live music and a great raffle until just before 8 and if you wish, the World Cup Final upstairs.

If you can’t make either there are still ways to get involved and support these great charities [the link takes you to the team’s Virgin Giving page – Ed]. Sponsorship forms will be going around and so will the raffle tickets – we have been able to blag a number of great prizes so watch this space!”

The event has already garnered some great publicity in the local paper, where it’s revealed the four-day challenge is over 130 miles and covers some hilly terrain in Wales and Shropshire before the team hits home turf in Worcestershire!

Here’s to a fabulous weekend of activities, especially to Luke and the rest of the team set to go From Source to Sauce! I’m sure a good time will be had by all at the dragon boat racing and party on Saturday, whilst raising pots of cash for a very good cause!
