James takes on the Gower Peninsula

South Wales Bike Ride 2014

Just as the Tour de France is getting under way, we have news of another cycling challenge from James McCartney at Smiths News Newport.

Last month James took part in the South Wales Bike Ride 2014 around the beautiful Gower Peninsula, to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. Opting for the longest distance of 49 miles, James completed the ride with family and friends.

He told us a little bit more about what the charity means to him:

“My grandfather suffered a severe heart attack a couple of years ago and if it wasn’t for the help and support of the British Heart Foundation it would have been more than the family could have coped with.”

James has raised a fantastic £480 so far for the BHF.
