Hard on the heels of Friday’s post about Sport Relief, it’s time to tell you more about our second Flagship Fundraiser this year!
Walking has proved popular with you in the past and so far on the blog you’ve shown a real appetite for something more challenging in 2014.
TrekFest is a walk over the Brecon Beacons in South Wales, and will certainly test your physical endurance and stamina. It crosses some of the highest peaks there – including Pen y Fan (886m) and Cribyn (795m) – trekkers can choose between completing a 54 mile course in 24 hours, or the shorter 27 mile route in 12 hours.
To encourage you to enter, we are offering to cover registration costs for the walk– all you have to do is commit to raising a minimum of £240 for the 27 mile walk or £340 for the 54 mile route per person. You can enter as an individual or as a group – however we’d love to make this a real team event and link colleagues from as many different locations as possible.
As well as a challenge, TrekFest is a fundraising event in its own right – you can choose to fundraise for the team’s preferred charity or your own individual choice.
The deadline for entries is Friday 28 March – contact Laura for a registration form.
Want to know more?
The TrekFest website has a comprehensive FAQs section which should help to answer your queries. It also has a gallery page showing the exploits from last year’s event. Please don’t signup via the TrekFest website as Laura needs to arrange the payment of your registration fees.
Once registered you will be given access to the TrekFest Participant Area which includes a training plan. You will also receive a Welcome Pack with fundraising tips, sponsorship forms and a detailed guide to the event.
Over the coming weeks we’ll be highlighting who’s going to TrekFest and catching up with your progress. All posts in this series can be found via the TrekFest Flagship Fundraiser Page.
