Newport House showing how it’s done in 2011

In the second of our Event Focus posts for 2013, it’s time to turn our attention to dragon boat racing; Worcester Dragon Boat Racing Club’s regatta in particular.

This is a popular and fun event – their 23rd, on 9th June this year – which offers the chance to do something just that little bit different.

Our staff based in Worcester are raring to go and would love to have some friendly rivalry from their colleagues around the country!

So do you fancy ‘racing the dragon’ on the River Severn this summer? If so you’ll need:

  • A crew of up to 16 paddlers and a drummer for each race
  • Up to 4 additional reserves can be named to give your crew an extra boost through the day
  • A name for your team!

The entry fee for each team will be covered by the Group, which also includes hire of the boat and all the necessary equipment (paddles, buoyancy aids etc.).

This year the racing club is raising money for a local charity, Worcester Breast Unit. You can choose to support this charity – or one of your choice.

Want to see what dragon boat racing’s like? Then, watch the above video to see Worcester in action at Milton Keynes last year (here’s the link if the above video doesn’t work). And you can read about how Newport fared when they raced the dragon on the River Wye in 2011.

Interested? Then get you team together and email Laura Morris or call 01793 563753 now to register your interest. Can’t raise a full team? Contact Laura and we’ll see what we can do to get you Linked-Up!
